How to Make Lesson Plan?

So this morning we had a discussion about how to make lesson plan. But we have to know about the learning tools that used in CRPAOS. There are 10 learning tools. First, the Consider All Factors (CAF). This tool can lead the students to think in different angles. Second is Cause and Effect tool, that encourage students to be more reasonable and think about the cause and effect in any topics or situations that discuss in class. Third is Compare and Contrast, looking or the differences or similarities of one topics. Fourth is Know Want Learned (KWL). Know is what the students already know about a topic. Want is what the students want to know. And Learned is what the students have learnt about a topic. Fifth is Ranking. This tool encourage students to have more critical thinking skill.

The sixth tool is Six Thinking Hats, consist of White (the data), Yellow (positive things), Black (critical thinking), Green (creative thinking), Red (emotion or feelings), and Blue (summaries) hats. The seventh is Plus Minus Interest (PMI), can be used to review a current situation or consider a future one. The eighth is Other Point of View (OPV) that allow students to put theirselves in others’s opinion. The ninth and tenth is Diagram and Mind Mapping. This is the common one in Indonesia. Students can represent their ideas and concepts in graphical way. 

After learning the tools, we learn about the activities in class. There are Do Now, Purpose, Work Mode, and Reflection. On Do Now step, teacher can show a picture and let the students to speak first, letting them to give opinions about a topic. Then the Purpose step, teacher explain about the purpose of this lesson. The ability that student can have after the lesson. On Work Mode step, students do the tasks like creating mind map or diagram. The last step is Reflection. Teacher ask the summaries or conclusion about the lesson. 

After learning about learning tools and activities in class, we start to make a lesson plan in the library. We create our lesson plan and Teacher Hin correct us. We finished the lesson plan training on 3.30 pm. Tomorrow we will observe the classes at 9 am. 

Ella go to dorm immediately because she wants to sleep. I, Rahmi, and Tias decided to go back to Big C. We order a taxi to go there. Boom gaves us the taxi number. But we have a trouble when ordering the taxi because the operator can’t speak english. Then we ask the teacher to speak with the operator in Thai. We even ask our student to speak with the driver. 

The driver come and drive us to Big C. Then we go to simcard store to fix it. After that we bought some cosmetics and went home. We choose Tuk-Tuk for our ride back to the dorm and that’s amazing! It feels like I’m on Ojek Bentor in Indonesia. 

The Tuk-Tuk driver drop us near the gate and we found a street foods. We walked around looking for some food and we bought chicken wings for 10 baht and a mango for 20 baht. After that we went back to our dorm and get some rest.

 

Welcome to CRPAO

Wednesday, January 24^th 2018

Today we will be picked up by the selected schools. I got Chiang Rai Provincial Administrative Organization School (CRPAOS) , with my roommate Rahmi, Tias, and Ella. Before we go to CRPAOS, we have a orientation with Mr. President. I carry my luggages with me and we go to the van. From CRRU to CRPAOS is about 10 kilometres and it takes 20 minutes by van.

Teacher Hin and Teacher Tiu take us to the office to meet the other teachers. We introduce ourselves with our Thai name that they can easily remember. Teacher Hin is like our mom in this school. We can find her in the library because she is a librarian. 

In the library, Teacher Hin introduce us to her students. They are Boom, Earn, and Kai. They are so cute and they are trying to help us even though they can’t speak english fluently. They take us to the halal food restaurant and being our translator to buy some food for lunch. Boom is a talkactive person. She asks about everything to us. “I want to speak english fluently,” she said. 

After lunch, we have a school tour. This school has eight buildings and it’s so colorful. It consists of male dormitory, female dormitory, and the classes from Mattayom 1 to 6. Mr. Tiu and the other teachers lead us to building 5. We had a chance to observe how the class is going. The students are so shy and they don’t speak english. We move to primary classes and it’s amazing! The wall is full of designed-worksheet of the student. We met some students playing on the schoolyard. And they are so respect with the teacher.

Teacher Hin will pick us at 4pm. We will go to buy some goods. With the school bus, she takes us to Big C, the department strore in Chiang Rai. I bought a simcard, so do Ella and Rahmi. Then we bought fruits, dairy, and some toiletries. We were on our way to restaurant when i just realized that my simcard is not working. I asked my friends and they simcard is working. We don’t know what to do then decided that we have to go back to Big C on the next day.

We back to our dorm at evening. Then Boom taught us how to do the laundry in this dorm. And we spent about 1 hour at the top of the building to do the laundry while discuss about everything. From the politic, education, until the ridiculous thing. After do the laundry we went back to our room and get some rest.

 

First Day at Chiang Rai Rajabhat University

Tuesday, January 23^rd 2018

I woke up late this morning. It’s already 7.43 AM, less than 1 hour until Miss Nok pick us up at the hotel. So I prepare myself for our orientation with the President of Chiang Rai Rajabhat University (CRRU). Miss Nok pick us right after breakfast with the campus bus. Then we’re going to CRRU. It’s 14 degrees outside, making me and some friends frozen. So glad i take my university jacket (almamater) with me so it can warm me. 

We arrived at CRRU. Miss Nok guide us to the orientation room. We met Mr. Teerawat from International Affair, just like Miss Nok. The president came to the room and the orientation begin.

We introduced ourself. Then the president gives us our ID card. The rule is, Mr. Teerawat call our name one by one, and then Miss Nok gave us our ID card. After that, we took a photo with president. When Mr. Teerawat call my name, he pronounced my name with ‘Teewani’ not ‘Tivani’. Just like Miss Nok when she pick me up at the airport yesterday. But I’m okay with that because Miss Nok give me a Thai name too. It’s Tee Wa, means night time. I think it’s quite same with my real name, Tivani and Tee Wa.

After orientation with the president, it’s Mr. Teerawat turn to give us orientation. He show us the previous batch projects. Then he show the videos about Thailand and something else. After that he announced the school that received us. I got Chiang Rai Provincial Administrative School (CRPAO) with Rahmi Haliyanti (Universitas Tadulako, Palu), Tias Subiasti (Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Bandung), and Angelica E. Velasco (University of San Jose Recoletos, Philippines). 

We have a lunch break and after that Miss Nok want us to meet our buddy. I got Chompor as my buddy. She’s majoring english education, so funny and talkactive. She shared lot of information about the campus. After introducing with the buddies, we have a campus tour with the shuttle bus. I found that CRRU has a lake, a big beautiful lake.

After that we went back to our hotel. Some of us wants to walk around and buy some stuff. That night, I shared my rendang with the others. After dinner, I pack all my luggages because the next morning we will leave the hotel and go to our school.
